So you bought unlocked iPhone and wondering how to get the Airtel GPRS/Edge plan activated on iPhone.

Here are the steps to get the task done:

1. Call up the Airtel Customer Care on 121, ask them about the GPRS plans they are offering, like we are using the Mobile Office plan, which offers unlimited browsing and downloading for 20Rs per day. So, pick up your plan and tell them to activate for you.

2. In iPhone go to Settings >> General >> Network >> EDGE
and enter

APN: Airtelgprs.com
Username: Leave it blank
Password: Leave it blank

Thats it, now just wait to get the plan activated and you are good to go, no more setting are required :-)

If you have been having constant iPhone crashes while playing games or using some heavy applications then its time you rebooted your iPhone.

iPhone is like a computer, when you run various applications on it, iPhone internal system resources, memory are used back and forth. And when you open a big application like a SimCity Game, it sometimes crashes due to unavailability of resources on iPhone.

So its always better to reboot your iPhone, which refreshes the memory and resources and you can get a better gaming experience.

Most of you must knowing it but still for those who don’t

How to reboot your iPhone

Hold down the Home and the Sleep/Wake buttons until your screen goes black, as shown at right. After a few seconds, you should see a sliding bar for powering off the phone. Pastebud, the new copy paste solution for iPhone is released, we covered it earlier when its introductory video was going rounds.

Now it is officially out and here are some details from the Pastebud website.

Pastebud enables round-trip copy and paste on your iPhone or iPod Touch, between the two applications that matter the most: Mail and Safari. And through a clever combination of web services and bookmarklets, it does it without requiring a jailbreak or App Store download.

To access pastbud, open http://pastebud.com/ in your iPhone safari browser.

Pastebud is new approach, using which you can copy text from webpages in safari to your mails etc. And most important, you won’t have to install any app, it just works with javascript bookmarks, and webservices.

From Gizmodo :

In fact, it doesn’t require anything to be installed, so it avoids the App Store altogether. As you can see in the video, Pastebud—as the service is called—works using two bookmarks in Safari. One prepares and loads the page you are viewing, ready to select text at the touch of a finger. From there, you can copy any text you want and create a new mail message with that text in it. In addition to that, you will be able to copy and paste in the text field of a different web page.

Taptaptap.com came with 10 amazing iPhone tips and tricks. The work done in explaining the tips with the pictures is really commendable.

Following a sneak peak of what you can expect from the post.

Swipe to delete

In the Mail app and many others that use lists of items, you’re able to quickly delete an item by swiping your finger across the item… sort of emulating crossing something off a list. Doing so exposes a Delete button so that you’re able to confirm your action.

Thinking of jailbreaking your iPhone, well here is something for inspiration.

After Jailbreaking iPhone:

1. Use your iPhone as a Modem

Your iPhone has an ‘unlimited’ data connection, it also has Bluetooth as does your laptop. Put the two together and you’ve got a terms and conditions breaching mobile broadband solution! iPhoneModem is such a ridiculously obvious and helpful thing it almost criminal it’s not supplied as standard. (O2 do ban this specifically in iPhone contracts - beware.)

2. Get skins and themes

Why wait for Apple to charge you another £10 to add this with the next firmware update, when with WinterBoard you can have it now! With a host of incredibly complete themes already available you can customise everything from the lock screen to your Wi-Fi strength icons.

3. Sync Google Calendar

We’re left incredulous that Google Calendar can’t synchronise by default with the built in one. It beggars belief - especially when the email happily works with Google Mail. Thankfully NemusSync solves that problem beautifully with two way syncing at the press of a button.

It seems that the recent iPhone 2.2 update, had some hidden features in it, one of which is Tv-Out. Which means you can post live videos from iphone to Tv, when connected through a cable.

From ArsTechnica:

The MPTVOutWindow class allows your iPhone to send its video to a connected TV rather than to the built-in screen. Intended to be used with movies, the unpublished class creates a live video feed that is sent out through the iPhone’s connector port. End-users will need to buy a video adapter or cable to use this functionality.
