How To Activate Airtel GPRS/EDGE Plan On Unlocked iPhones In India
So you bought unlocked iPhone and wondering how to get the Airtel GPRS/Edge plan activated on iPhone.
Here are the steps to get the task done:
1. Call up the Airtel Customer Care on 121, ask them about the GPRS plans they are offering, like we are using the Mobile Office plan, which offers unlimited browsing and downloading for 20Rs per day. So, pick up your plan and tell them to activate for you.
2. In iPhone go to Settings >> General >> Network >> EDGE
and enter
APN: Airtelgprs.com
Username: Leave it blank
Password: Leave it blank
Thats it, now just wait to get the plan activated and you are good to go, no more setting are required 
Update: After upgrading to iPhone 2.2 firmware i was not able to see the EDGE settings under Network, but GPRS worked fine without even doing any settings at all. So, if you are not able to see the EDGE tab under Settings>>General>>Network don’t worry just get your GPRS activated, it will work fine.
pls tell me how to get gprs,mms and wap services activated on iPhone 4 in India using Relaince GSM or BSNL network. Also tell me the price of iPhone 4 16/32 GB models in India. pls reply asap.

I am getting problem to access mobile office on my iphone(3g).
while opening safari firstly it start loading slowly but after some time blink a message that “safari could not open the page the network stopped responding”

Go to Settings >> General >> Network >> Cellular Data >>
APN : Internet
Username : {Leave Blank}
Password: {Leave Blank}
Then Reboot Your iPhone…..thats Only..

In iphone 3GS there is no option to select Edge.. only enable 3G is available. Last time i called Airtel and they said to call Apple and activate. Let me try again when I am bck to India.

If you are using Airtellive. then its deduct ur balance… so better use mobile office.(Airtelgprs.com)
i uploaded a gprs plan for 90 rs. in my Iphone 3gs ..
but when i switch on cellular data in network settings , they are deducting a lots of balance , even when i am not using internet

hi boss its only solution is u have to off the cellular date so that when u disconnect form the browser it wont works, again if u wanna access jst swith “ON” CELLULAR DATA ON dats it

Have recently relocated to India and am using an unlocked (through Cydia) 3Gs iphone. Likewise, am having trouble accessing the internet even the blue Edge “E” icon is clearly displayed on my phone.
Have had a look at the above instructions and all seem ok. The only issue is that when i go to Settings >> General >> Network >> on my phone there is no option for Cellular Data >> and APN.
Any thoughts ??.

Im using iphone 3GS, I’m posting an excellent trick for all. recharge with 15 rs (normal GPRS plan) now your phone will have 3 days gprs with 500 MB (which is normal . Now just go ahead and switch to 3G in your phone and start using the 500 MB in 3G speeds. Im getting about 450 kbps download and in city limits about 800 Kbps. This is working for my friends who is having non apple phones also. I bet this will work for you too.
