Indian Grey Market – Selling iPhone Like HotCakes

Following the huge prices set up by both Airtel and Vodafone, all those who had been waiting to buy iPhone since it was announced to be launched in India are rushing towards grey market where they can get almost half the price. Its been reported by Economic Times that in Indian grey markets 16GB iPhone is selling for as low as Rs 20,000-Rs 22,000. And with some good bargaining skills you can end up saving Rs 1000-Rs 2000 on that price also.
“Sales had dipped after it was announced in May that Airtel and Vodafone will bring iPhone to India. Many postponed buying the phone from us. However, since the prices announced are almost 50-60% more than at what we sell, we are getting back business,” said a dealer at Heera Panna, Mumbai’s best known grey market for all high-end phones.
So, if you want to own a iPhone and don’t want to wait for iPhone prices to go down in India, buying from grey market can be viable option.
Update: Its reported by various users through mails and comments that iPhone Grey Market Prices are more then reported by Economic Times. The prices fall in the Rs 23000-Rs. 25000 bracket for 16GB iPhone 3g
no where it selling for 22-24000 in delhi grey market i went last week to gaffar and they have increased rates of iphone 2g to 25500 for first hand unlocked phone from 6months b4 when it was 23500 .3g was no where available .even i most tampered one in 2g was not less that 16000
Totally untrue. I can personally confirm its not available at such rates in Mumbai as well.

As far as we know grey market where you can get iPhone in delhi are gaffar market and palika bazaar. Unfortunately we don’t have any contact no or latest info on price as it keeps on changing.

Yes 3G iPhone can be unlocked in gaffar market delhi, although i don’t know any particular shop there but certainly there will be fair amount of shops doing that and you can also do that yourself using the guides http://iphone3g-india.com/unlock-your-iphone-3g/
. And yes all the functionalities work after unlocking so there is not much of a problem on that side.
Now with the slashing of price by apple on iphone ($99 for locked 8GB 3G).

there is a shop in gaffar market called Vaishno electronics and the address is 131,m.c.d market,karol bagh its a very famous shop u can ask anyone about it in gaffar.they will charge 500 for unlocking and 1500 for unlocking with full loading(games,apps n everything.I hope this will help.C ya

i guys, i want to tell u shocking news. iphone3g price in USA is(100$)which is 4700RS. and iphone3gs is (200$)which is 9800RS. in india its price is tooooooooo high near about 20000RS for 3g and 3gs is not launged. you can check that on official site of apple company which is apple.com it is an USA site.if iphone does’nt fit in your pocket then you should take nokia 5800 it is having all the feature which is having iphone. its true.

iPhone 3gs is available in gaffar market unlocked for 30,000 for 16 gb. I bought one a week back n it’s working absolutely fine. Even GPRS of Airtel is wrking perfectly on it. Just go to gaffar find a big shop haggle for a while n pick your phone. You will find old iPhones as well basically second hand which you can get for 26000 27000 as well. I would suggest go for the new one and get it unlocked in front of your eyes.
